Sweet Sweet Savannah

A few weeks ago we had a PARTY at our house! It was so fun! Ryans brother Shawn and his family, sister Holly and her daughter, and sister Shalyse and her 3 kids came down to visit and stayed at our place for 3 days. We had 7 kids under the age of 5 in the house!! Vince loved it, being with all his cousins and meeting a lot for the first time. Great times of food, festivities and fun! haha

One of the days we went down to Savannah to show them the town and then over to Tybee Island at the beach. It was mid October and 87 degrees the day we went swimming! I can't believe how HOT it stays in the south!!

This is a great candy shop that sells pralines!

We of coarse went swimming and the water was great! Felt so good, a little cool for Vince but we got used to it and was playing in the waves on the shore and having fun.

No eggs but more cheese please!

So back when Vince was about 5 months old we thought he might be allergic to dairy. So since I was nursing him I had to stop eating all dairy. He seemed to get better but then days not so much so they did some tests and had me cut out dairy, soy and peanuts! Not fun! But baby Vince is worth it and I know some people have to do that everyday, so I'm not going to complain. It really wasnt too terrible but I never realized how many things have soy in them! Look at your food labels and you'll see. Anyways, I slowly brought all them back into my die,t but have tried to stay away form peanuts and he's doing great!!
We've been to the allergist and they didnt some tests showing he's slightly allergic to milk and wheat but really small so I could try them. We also had his 9 month appt and he's doing great! He's 50 % in weight at almost 20lbs but lacking a little in the height department. He's not off the charts but the doctor wanted to make sure he's getting enough protein and calcium. He thinks that maybe because I had to restrict my diet that could've effected it a little but he really isn't that concerned.
So the next morning I decided to make him scrambled eggs! What better breakfast with lots of protein!! I was so excited, I start feeding him and he really is acting like he doesn't like it. He was making a yucky face and really acting like it was gross. I mean I'm not the biggest egg fan but they aren't that bad. Well in about 20 seconds I could see why he wasn't liking it. I started seeing red spots around his mouth and up by his left eye (he had flicked egg up by his eye when I was feeding him) and he was itching it non-stop! Then the red spots started getting raised and more like welts and his eye was getting really red!! I started worrying because he was obviously having an allergic reaction but I wasn't sure how bad it was going to get!! Thankfully that was the worse that it got. I called the doctor and he said I could give him some Benadryl. Of coarse we didn't have any so we had to pack up and go to Walmart for some. Thankfully by the time we got home most of the redness was gone and he was his happy self. Poor little man!! So no more eggs for now.
I was doing some research and it said that most kids outgrow the allergy by age 5 if not sooner, so that's good news! He's such a happy camper and we love him so much!

It's kinda hard to see in this picture but his eye was all red and had bumps on his face. But really not that bad compared to some allergic reactions people have.

For some GOOD NEWS he's being doing awesome with dairy!!! Yay, we are so excited! Especially Ryan, being a cheese lover Wisconsin boy! hahahahahahha! I've give him greek yogurt and string cheese and he loves both. I was kinda nervous about the greek yogurt because it's pretty bitter but he actually liked it. The first bite was so funny because he made a sour weird face but slowly let the taste soak in and opened his mouth for more! :) He really liked the cheese and is growing up before my eyes! The really good news is they are such a good source of calcium and protein, especially the yogurt! He's a great eater. He eats 3 meals a day. He eats mostly mashed/purread food but I usually give him some finger foods with lunch and dinner and loves Cheerios for snacks. He eats oatmeal with some type of fruit in the morning, usually beans and vegetables at lunch and chicken with veg/sweet potatoes for dinner. He LOVES sweet potatoes! I mix them usually with the chicken and beans but he'll eat straight up beans and really like them. For finger foods he'll eat black and kidney beans, pieces of fruit, broccoli, bread, cheese and whatever I give him!

He still hasn't got the traditional crawl down but can get around. He does his flop a lot but is moving his knee and hand forward like he's going to crawl but will go to his stomach. He stands up all the time. I'll hold my hands out and his grabs on and pulls himself up, he'll pull himself up on the couch and crib sometimes. He can sit up on his own from his stomach which is awesome!! He used to be stuck on his tummy but now can sit up like a big boy!! He likes to push the garage door opener and pull the light string that hangs down from our living room ceiling fan. I think his favorite color is yellow because he'll stare at the Cheerio box and Ryans dewalt tools! haha He loves when we make animal sounds, especially a snake, bee and lion or bear. :) He likes when we scare him (not pee his pants scare), but he can jump and then laugh! He's a big talked and abbles and "talks" all the time. He loves walks and is way more observant. He loves seeing people and dogs! He doesn't lay back in the stroller unless he's really tired but is always sitting up straight holding onto the front bar and taking everything in. He's such a happy camper and my little man!! I love Vince so much words can't describe!! :)
