Christmas Tree Skirt

I love to sew but I'll go through waves. I bought this fabric on black Friday and finished it in January. haha But I was really excited because the first one I made was during our first Christmas and we definitely needed a new one. It turned out very bright and cheery but that's my personality and I love it!

Eagle Forest

I love going on walks. Back behind our house is a bunch of farms and thats usually the way we'll go on our walks because we live on a busy road and there's no shoulder to walk on. About a mile and a half away there's this grove of trees that we named eagle forest. Back in January or February we would go and there would be 10-15 bald eagles and other eagles in this grove of trees!! It was so cool! I had never seen so many eagles so close together. The odd thing was that it only lasted for about a month then a lot of them left. We'll still walk over there but maybe only see 1 or 2 and they usually arent the bald eagles.

Breaking Records

This year has been crazy and honestly driving me a little nuts. Ryan just heard on the radio that we've had the most rainfall from Oct 1- the end of April (and we still have a few days left) since 1895!!! We've had, I believe, 43 inches and that's how much we normally get in 1 year!!! It has been cold and rainy and I CANNOT WAIT for summer to start.
But one cool thing was all the snow we got. We had like 6 different times we woke up to snow, and thats not normal for the lowlands. One day in the beginning of February we had 13 inches of snow from one snowstorm!!! It was crazy!! We never get that much snow. I mean they'll cancel school for an inch of snow so 13 was nuts. It was fun getting out and playing in it, but Vince and Jake we're getting a little frustrated because it was so deep they really couldnt walk very well! haha

This was Sunday when it started

We got out Sunday night and built a snowman, there was about 8 inches at this time

Then we woke up Monday with the 13 inches!

There was so much snow it was really weighing down our bushes and breaking branches so I had to go around with a broom knocking it down

I started making a snowfort and the boys had fun "cutting the snow with their chainsaws"

Big Changes for Jake

Jake is potty trained!!
He started taking interest back around Christmas time when we had tons of family over. He kept talking about the potty and wanted to go but we had way too much going on and I wasn't ready! I did Vince at 27 months and felt like it was too young because the whole process took almost a year to get everything down! I didnt want to go down that road and was planning on waiting til he was closer to 3. Well he kept on being persistent and then I was afraid I'd lose that magical window of opportunity and gave it a go. We bought big boy underwear, pulled out some candy and brought out the potty seat. He did really well and got it within a week or so!! I was so impressed!!
I guess every child is different and doing it when they're ready makes a HUGE difference.

We probably read that book literally 50 times but it would help :)

Jakes other big transition was moving from the crib to a big boy bed. Jake started climbing out of his crib so we sadly had to remove the side so he wouldnt hurt himself. I was afraid he'd roll out so I put some couch cushions next to the bed and covered it with blankets but he surprisingly never did! He still stays in for naps. Bedtime is a little more tricky with him coming out sometimes, but we're consistent in putting him back and he's pretty much got the hang of it.
