Gator Nation

A few weeks ago Ryan went up to Iowa for business so Vince and I decided to take a trip down south to visit my good friend Tami. They recently moved to Gainesville because her husband is doing a ceramics program at University of Florida aka Gator Nation! It's really crazy how we are both living in the south at the same time and are only 6 hrs away. We both grew up in Washington and are literally on the opposite side of the country at the same time. So we are taking full advantage of being so close!

Just look at those legs!!

We had to take a couple breaks and Vince loved "driving" I would have to pry his hands off the steering wheel when it was time to go! haha

We had lots of fun, we went on walks, out to eat at Chick Fila (you can read about the fun adventure here), shopping, picnic, went to the beach, trick or treating on campus, lots of playing for the kids and talking and laughing for us! It was great!!

We went out the the gulf to a beach called Cedar Keys. It was kinda cold and windy, so no swimming but we had fun playing at the little park and having a picnic

Don't worry Ellie had a blast :)

Vince on the swing

There was a Halloween activity that the sorority girls put on, on campus which was neat. They had this little picture booth and I was dying laughing, they were so cute!

Ellie was a Spanish girl and SO DARLING!! Her outfit was really from Spain and was so cool! She played the part well!

Tami and Ellie

The nickname for the campus is the swamp and it definitely lives up to it's name. There's spanish moss everywhere and it was pretty neat.

You don't see this sign everyday. And we did see a few alligators and even some baby ones that were actually pretty cute!

haha I don't know where Vince it looking but those two had lots of fun together

Happy Halloween

Vince first Halloween was a success! He had 3 different costumes and rocked them all! Ryan and I carved pumpkins a few days before and had really fun. Ryan asked if I was going to make the same pumpkin face I do every year. I always thought it was cool but apparently it was a little boring, so we decided to have a little fun and make a competition out of it! It was fun and we put it on facebook to see who got the most votes. Ryan beat me by 1 point!! It was really fun and I'm excited for next year.

Ryan did the cat and I did the skeleton

We didn't take Vince trick or treating because let face it, everyone would know the candy would be for Ryan and I! haha But we did sit out on the porch passing out candy and Vince in his costume. (Apparently that's what people in Georgia do, probably because it was 80 on Halloween!!) Ryan grew up in Wisconsin and me in Washington so it was always freezing or raining, so this was quite the treat.

A few months ago we watched our friends house while they went back to Japan to visit family and they brought us back this awesome, authentic outfit!! It finally fit and he was a doll!! Our little Japanese man!

This was when Vince and I went down to Florida (a few weeks ago to visit Tami) and there was a Halloween trick or treating on the University of Florida campus. This was all I had, a stud muffin/camo man but he was a hit with the ladies! ;)

My little bear

And finally this was going to be his original Halloween outfit but because it was 80 degrees he would've been one hot bear! Isn't he cute!!

Only in Georgia

A few weeks ago I had bought this deal on Groupon for a "Haunted Hayride" over in Hepzibah. It seemed fun and it was a way to make sure Ryan and I could go out on a date. Now don't get me wrong, I would love to go out on dates with Ryan every week but
A. We have a son
2. Babysitters add up
D. A lot of times Ryan and I are fine with having date night at home
Anyways we were both really excited to get out of the house and do something "different" and fun. And boy was this different! haha
So Hepzibah is in south Augusta and way more out in the country than where we live. The haunted hayride was at Graystone Ranch and they had a little bit of everything. Apparently they have not only Halloween activities but Easter, camping, wildlife zoo, fishing, trails, horse rides and more random things. It was kind of hard to find and off the beaten path but we did make our way to it. Once we had got there and paid they had us go to the "waiting area" which is an outside little area with super old patio furniture under an awning. It was interesting but we had fun. The actual haunted hayride was pretty good. There was no hay involved but this old man driving a little tractor pulling us behind in a big wagon type thing. It went super slow but they had a lot of good actors and things to scare you. We had fun and made the most out of it. I don't know if we'd ever go again but we had a good time and laugh!

Exciting decorations

Sweet Sweet Savannah

A few weeks ago we had a PARTY at our house! It was so fun! Ryans brother Shawn and his family, sister Holly and her daughter, and sister Shalyse and her 3 kids came down to visit and stayed at our place for 3 days. We had 7 kids under the age of 5 in the house!! Vince loved it, being with all his cousins and meeting a lot for the first time. Great times of food, festivities and fun! haha

One of the days we went down to Savannah to show them the town and then over to Tybee Island at the beach. It was mid October and 87 degrees the day we went swimming! I can't believe how HOT it stays in the south!!

This is a great candy shop that sells pralines!

We of coarse went swimming and the water was great! Felt so good, a little cool for Vince but we got used to it and was playing in the waves on the shore and having fun.

No eggs but more cheese please!

So back when Vince was about 5 months old we thought he might be allergic to dairy. So since I was nursing him I had to stop eating all dairy. He seemed to get better but then days not so much so they did some tests and had me cut out dairy, soy and peanuts! Not fun! But baby Vince is worth it and I know some people have to do that everyday, so I'm not going to complain. It really wasnt too terrible but I never realized how many things have soy in them! Look at your food labels and you'll see. Anyways, I slowly brought all them back into my die,t but have tried to stay away form peanuts and he's doing great!!
We've been to the allergist and they didnt some tests showing he's slightly allergic to milk and wheat but really small so I could try them. We also had his 9 month appt and he's doing great! He's 50 % in weight at almost 20lbs but lacking a little in the height department. He's not off the charts but the doctor wanted to make sure he's getting enough protein and calcium. He thinks that maybe because I had to restrict my diet that could've effected it a little but he really isn't that concerned.
So the next morning I decided to make him scrambled eggs! What better breakfast with lots of protein!! I was so excited, I start feeding him and he really is acting like he doesn't like it. He was making a yucky face and really acting like it was gross. I mean I'm not the biggest egg fan but they aren't that bad. Well in about 20 seconds I could see why he wasn't liking it. I started seeing red spots around his mouth and up by his left eye (he had flicked egg up by his eye when I was feeding him) and he was itching it non-stop! Then the red spots started getting raised and more like welts and his eye was getting really red!! I started worrying because he was obviously having an allergic reaction but I wasn't sure how bad it was going to get!! Thankfully that was the worse that it got. I called the doctor and he said I could give him some Benadryl. Of coarse we didn't have any so we had to pack up and go to Walmart for some. Thankfully by the time we got home most of the redness was gone and he was his happy self. Poor little man!! So no more eggs for now.
I was doing some research and it said that most kids outgrow the allergy by age 5 if not sooner, so that's good news! He's such a happy camper and we love him so much!

It's kinda hard to see in this picture but his eye was all red and had bumps on his face. But really not that bad compared to some allergic reactions people have.

For some GOOD NEWS he's being doing awesome with dairy!!! Yay, we are so excited! Especially Ryan, being a cheese lover Wisconsin boy! hahahahahahha! I've give him greek yogurt and string cheese and he loves both. I was kinda nervous about the greek yogurt because it's pretty bitter but he actually liked it. The first bite was so funny because he made a sour weird face but slowly let the taste soak in and opened his mouth for more! :) He really liked the cheese and is growing up before my eyes! The really good news is they are such a good source of calcium and protein, especially the yogurt! He's a great eater. He eats 3 meals a day. He eats mostly mashed/purread food but I usually give him some finger foods with lunch and dinner and loves Cheerios for snacks. He eats oatmeal with some type of fruit in the morning, usually beans and vegetables at lunch and chicken with veg/sweet potatoes for dinner. He LOVES sweet potatoes! I mix them usually with the chicken and beans but he'll eat straight up beans and really like them. For finger foods he'll eat black and kidney beans, pieces of fruit, broccoli, bread, cheese and whatever I give him!

He still hasn't got the traditional crawl down but can get around. He does his flop a lot but is moving his knee and hand forward like he's going to crawl but will go to his stomach. He stands up all the time. I'll hold my hands out and his grabs on and pulls himself up, he'll pull himself up on the couch and crib sometimes. He can sit up on his own from his stomach which is awesome!! He used to be stuck on his tummy but now can sit up like a big boy!! He likes to push the garage door opener and pull the light string that hangs down from our living room ceiling fan. I think his favorite color is yellow because he'll stare at the Cheerio box and Ryans dewalt tools! haha He loves when we make animal sounds, especially a snake, bee and lion or bear. :) He likes when we scare him (not pee his pants scare), but he can jump and then laugh! He's a big talked and abbles and "talks" all the time. He loves walks and is way more observant. He loves seeing people and dogs! He doesn't lay back in the stroller unless he's really tired but is always sitting up straight holding onto the front bar and taking everything in. He's such a happy camper and my little man!! I love Vince so much words can't describe!! :)

Northwest Trek and the River

A couple days before we left we went out to Northwest trek. It's like a zoo but only animals that would be in the forest in the northwest area and then there's a tram you get to ride and see a bunch of the other animals. It's pretty cool, we saw some buffalo and rams super close and Vince was taking it all in, watching them. Super cute!

Aunt Megan and Vince waiting for the tram

Kenzie, Megan and Vince having fun!

The last night we were there went went out to grandpas house on the river and had a fun dinner with everyone. Tom and Yasmin had flown out for a wedding and brought there new dog. It was so fun seeing everyone and being together!

Escape to Ravensdale

My aunt and uncle have a pretty amazing house. It's gorgeous, lots of property, basketball court, pool, fire pit, shooting range and more! It's great. So this year they wanted to have a family camp
out at their place! It was so much fun!! First of all being with all the family is the best but there was great food, games, swimming, ATV rides through the forest, basketball, badmitten, wiffle ball and more!! It was over Labor Day weekend and we could not have asked for better weather! Ryan and I are pumped for next year!
